This is a series of articles I produced for The Weekly Post, an English-language newspaper here on The Costa Blanca. In it I look at why the dream of a new life in the sun can become more of a nightmare for some people. The articles suggest a way of creating a personal plan that both aids understanding what is happening to you, and of managing your way forward. The ideas are applicable to any ex-pat, particularly where the mother tongue isn't the language of your new homeland.
Last time I briefly introduced the subject of psychotherapy and told you a little about the thinking behind it and how the process works. This time I want to begin a look at some of the reasons people come for psychotherapy, paying particular attention to what I have called "The Costa Blanca Effect".
This week I’ll recap briefly and then begin, as promised, a look at things you can do to help yourself, or people you care about, who are impacted by it.
Today I want to guide you through creation of a personal action plan which I offer as one way of actively managing your way through and out of The Costa Blanca Effect.
Last time we began our look at preparation of an action plan, offered as a potential way of steering yourself through and out of depression caused by The Costa Blanca Effect. You will recall the stated objective of the plan - to enable you to take control of your life and to start to go forward again.
